Soccer.
Soccer isn’t widely considered to be the most popular sport in the world for nothing. It is a rather simple sport to follow, and a great sport for learning teamwork. Everyone on the team contributes to the game. Soccer is also a dynamic sport; during a game the players are constantly on the move. So it’s easy for your child to get his daily share of physical activity. Plus, the kids play outdoors and have plenty of fun even though they don't completely understand how to play.

One other thing to consider is the cost of equipment. Soccer is a relatively cheap sport to play. You don’t need as much gear as for football and baseball. Most probably you will need to buy some shin guards and that's it. Make sure to get the shin guards with ankle sock (other guards will slide), and with the shield in the ankle sock (as in the model on the left).

Most kids enjoy kicking things around. So it’s quite likely that even a 4 year old will enjoy playing soccer.
