Christmas and Winter Art Project: Paper Snowflakes.

  Toddler-Net on Facebook
This is one of the easiest, inexpensive, yet festive, decorations one can make at home. The simplicity is in the fact that there is no strict pattern and the final product always looks great after unfolding. There is also an element of surprise in the unfolding and children love it. This project develops cutting skills and imagination. In addition, you and your kids will feel satisfaction after making such an adorable decoration for your home. For kids 6 years of age and older.

Materials:
1. Thin white (or lightly colored) paper
2. Scissors
3. Scotch tape

Show your child how to fold a sheet of paper and trim the upper edge of the cone, as shown below. (This fold will give octagonal snowflakes, but it's much easier for kids to make.)

Together with your child experiment a little and see how different cuts change the shape of snowflake. For example, if you cut off the tip of the cone, the snowflake will have a hole in the center. Depending on the cut this hole will have a different shape.
