Kids Craft - Make Witch Garland for Halloween

This is a decorative project which mostly involves tracing and cutting skills. These skills are an important part of children's development as they promote the development of coordination and cognitive development overall.
This project is better suited for kids over 6 years of age. With younger children, an adult should do the tracing and cutting out and the kids can decorate shapes with stickers or glitter glue.

Materials:

1. Witch Printout
2. Marker (any dark color)
3. Scissors
4. Construction paper (black or dark purple)
5. Glue
6. Scotch tape
7. Cord (stretchy cord, 1mm is the best)

Cut the figure of the witch (with the broom or without it) out of the printout.

Using a marker trace it to the construction paper. Cut out the shape of the witch. Don't worry about small details, even if your child messes up the face or shoes or hair the overall shape won't suffer much.
If you make the broom separately, glue or tape it to the witch figure after that.

If you are using thick paper you can do the whole cutout at once (the witch on the broom). With regular construction paper, just cut out the figure of the witch and make a broom out of something thicker (We used a "Lunchables" box for this -- your kids can simply color the broom with a black marker).

Decorate with small shiny stickers or glitter glue.

Tape a witch on the broom to the cord. You must put the tape in the head or torso section otherwise the figure will flip over.

making a witch garland

You can hang the garland either outside...

or inside the house.

Or you can tape separate witch figures to the windows or the walls.
