Art Project for Children: Imagination Collage

This project contributes to developing children's cognitive abilities such as imagination, planning their work, and discussing it with others. Tearing and cutting paper also helps motor development a lot.
Materials:
1. A few pieces of construction paper in various colors.
2. Scissors.
3. Glue or glue stick.
4. Crayons or markers.

Give your child a piece of white paper and ask him to tear it into a few pieces. Ask him if any of the pieces remind him of something. Develop the project according the answer. Here I'll tell about this particular collage.

Art Project - imagination collage
A boy tore a few pieces of white paper and one of them reminded him of an observatory radar (you can get the most unexpected ideas out of your children, be prepared). He colored this piece according to his own image of radar. Then, he asked me to help him cut out an observatory shape. I suggested folding a piece of paper in half and then he was able to cut out the dome. The yellow color was his idea since he decided that white was “too boring”. He glued the shapes of the observatory and the radar to the blue piece of paper and added a few details with markers. After that, he decided to add a comet and some stars. Because they are sparkly, we made them out of foil and he added a “tail” to the comet using torn pieces of red paper.
