Art Project for Kids: Vase with flowers Collage

This project combines tearing techniques and cutting with scissors. It gives a basic knowledge on symmetry of shapes. It benefits the development of motor skills, as well as skills in planning the process and completing the task.
Suitable for children 5-7 years old.

Materials:
1. A printout with half of a vase shape
2. A few sheets of brightly colored construction paper
3. Scissors
4. Glue

Explain the main steps and techniques:
1. Talk about symmetry and symmetrical shapes and objects.

2. Show how we can cut out a symmetric shape by folding a piece of paper in half.

3. Show how to make flower stems by tearing or cutting thin strips of paper.
4. Show how to make flower centers and petals by tearing small pieces of paper
5. Remind your child to arrange the whole composition before gluing everything into the final artwork.
