Snowman Painting.

This painting project is rather simple, but looks great and fun to do. It helps developing basic painting skills and great for introduction your child to paint. It is more suited for winter and Christmas. For kids 4-6 years old.

Materials:
1. Blue construction paper (you can also paint white paper with blue watercolors in advance)
2. A set of watercolors
3. A good watercolor brush with a pointy tip
4. A white acrylic or tempera paint

Talk to your child about making a snowman out of three different size snowballs. You can suggest you child to lightly draw snowman with a pencil or let him/her start with painting right away.

Paint the snowman and the ground with a thick layer of white tempera. Let it dry for a few minutes; meanwhile, discuss snowman's “accessories” (the bucket or hat, the scarf, arms and so on).

Finally, ask your child to paint details, using the pointy tip of a brush. Show him/her how to hold a brush almost vertical to the paper when painting thin lines or dots.
