Toddler-Net on Facebook
Children will learn about color mixing and improve their artistic skills. For kids 4-5 years old and up. Try to explain each step of this project to your kids as shown below.

Materials:
1. A sheet of thick paper
2 A pensil

2. A couple of brushes
3. A set of acrylic, or watercolor, or tempera paints
4. A jar of water for washing brushes

First set up several different fruits and/or veggies 2-3 ft away from your child. Use simple background. Ask your child to draw a sketch using a pensil.

Tell him/her that the lines should be light. Show how to draw without pushing on the pensil too hard. Don't forget about the line of horizon (the line where the horizontal and vertical planes meet).

Show how to mix colors on the mixing plate. Explain that one can make orange color using red and yellow paints, violet or purple using red and blue, etc. Allow some time for your child to experiment with mixing colors.
Ask your child to color background first.
