| Swimming Swimming is an obvious choice of sport for Tucson. A pool is probably the only place where you can be comfortable while being outdoors in the summertime. Your child can start as early as you like, though you have to be in the pool with him until he turns at least 2 (and at most pools it's 3 years old). Also, swimming is probably the only sport where children can actually learn some valuable skills even at this early age. Warning!!! “Aquatic programs for infants and toddlers have not been shown to decrease the risk of drowning, and parents should not feel secure that their child is safe in water or safe from drowning after participating in such programs. Young children should receive constant, close supervision by an adult while in and around water”. (AAP recommendations) |

1. Sunshine swimming school Sunshine swimming school is a good choice for beginners. There are no more than 3 kids per group and their instructors are great with children. But the pool is not that big and there are always issues with parking, especially in the afternoon. 2. Dolphins of the Desert There is also Dolphins of the Desert. Maybe they are for more serious swimmers. 3. Edith Ball Pool There are number of swimming pools that are located in Tucson parks. One of the newest is Edith Ball Pool (across from the Zoo). SAAA Swim Team There is quite a number of SAAA Swim Teams in Tucson area. Of course your child has to be a swimmer already in order to join the team. You can learn more at 5.
